ന്യൂഡൽഹി: മിലിട്ടറി നഴ്സിംഗ് സർവീസിന്റെ (MNS) അഡീഷണൽ ഡയറക്ടർ ജനറലായി പത്തനംതിട്ട സ്വദേശിനിയായ മേജർ ജനറൽ റേച്ചൽ തോമസ് ചുമതലയേറ്റു. നാല് പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെ നീണ്ട സേവനത്തിന് ശേഷം മേയ് 31ന് വിരമിച്ച മേജർ ജനറൽ ലിസമ്മയുടെ പിന്ഗാമിയായാണ് നിയമനം. ലിസമ്മ കോട്ടയം സ്വദേശിനിയാണ്.
പൂനെയിലെ കോളേജ് ഓഫ് നഴ്സിംഗിലും ആംഡ് ഫോഴ്സ് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിലും പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ റേച്ചൽ തോമസ് 1988 ജൂൺ 1ന് മിലിട്ടറി നഴ്സിംഗ് സർവീസിൽ ചേർന്നു. സായുധ സേന മെഡിക്കൽ സർവീസസിന് കീഴിലുള്ള വിവിധ പ്രമുഖ സൈനിക ആശുപത്രികളിൽ ക്ലിനിക്കൽ, ഭരണപര ചുമതലകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി സുപ്രധാന പദവികൾ അവർ വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ദീർഘകാല സേവനപരിചയവും നേതൃത്വമികവും പരിഗണിച്ചാണ് റേച്ചൽ തോമസിനെ മിലിട്ടറി നഴ്സിംഗ് സർവീസിന്റെ അഡീഷണൽ ഡയറക്ടർ ജനറലായി നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
